Alejandro Gómez Yepes was born in A Coruña, Spain, in November 1985. He received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Vigo, Spain, in Jan. 2009 and Dec. 2011, respectively.
From Jun. 2008 he is working with the Applied Power Electronics Technology Research Group (APET) at CINTECX, University of Vigo. He was a visiting scholar at Liverpool John Moores University in 2011 (3 months), at the EMPE Lab of Texas A&M University in 2016-2018 (23 months), and at CISE, University of Beira Interior, in 2018 (1.5 months). He is a Ramon y Cajal research fellow at the University of Vigo since Jan. 2020.
His research interests mainly include digital control of power electronics converters, with special focus, currently, on multiphase ac machine drives. He has authored more than 100 scientific publications in the field of power electronics. Out of them, more than 70 are published in JCR-indexed journals (most in the 1st quartile). His publications have received over 7000 citations and he is included in the list of top 2% scientists selected by Stanford University and Elsevier BV according to citation data. He is a member of the IEEE, the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society and the IEEE Power Electronics Society. He currently serves as an Associate Editor of IEEE Trans. Industrial Electronics, IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics on Power Electronics, and IET Electric Power Applications.
He has participated in 9 competitive R&D projects funded by public entities (5 national and 4 regional), being the Principal Investigator of two of them. He has also participated in 5 projects with funding from private companies, where transfer of knowledge took place.
